Q?Who owns Aljaloca?
A.

Aljaloca Construção Civil UniPessoal Lda was founded in 2004 by Alfredo Ferreira in Algarve, Portugal. Alfredo is originally from Porto, North Portugal. He lived in the UK for 14 years, working in the construction industry before returning to Portugal, where he launched Aljaloca.

Q?What areas do you serve?
A.

We work throughout Algarve, Portugal including Carvoeiro, Lagoa, Portimao, Albufeira, Faro and Lagos, Monchique.

Q?What are your hours?
A.

Our office hours are Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. – 6 p.m. However, we often work outside those hours, and we will respond to client inquiries whenever it is most convenient for you.

Q?Is Aljaloca a licensed, insured builder?
A.

Yes, we have an Alvara, which is the builders license required by Portuguese law. We are also fully insured.

Q?Do you have your own crew?
A.

We have our own crew, all of whom are hardworking craftsmen. Additionally, we have excellent relationships with quality subcontractors in various trades. They are specialists in their fields. They know and uphold our high standards. Furthermore, whenever we have subcontractors working on our site, we are there to oversee all work.

Q?I don’t speak Portuguese. Will I have difficulty communicating what I want to your staff?
A.

We speak English and Portuguese fluently. We will be sure to take the time to understand your requirements and preferences.

Q?Do I have to get my own architect and engineers?
A.

We have an in-house engineer and top architects with whom we work closely. We can put you in touch with the right professionals to get the job done.

Q?Do you offer any guarantees?
A.

All work on new homes is guaranteed, as required by Portuguese law. For smaller projects, we also guarantee our work and will fix anything that doesn’t meet your expectations. We should point out this rarely happens, and we pride ourselves on doing the work right the first time.

Q?Do you offer payment plans?
A.

We require a 10% deposit at the signing of the contract. We then provide a payment schedule before beginning a project. It specifies certain benchmarks in the construction process at which additional funds are due.

Q?We are interested in building a holiday villa. But we don’t live in Portugal. Is it a problem that we can’t be present for the construction process?
A.

We frequently work with customers who don’t live in the area. You don’t need to be concerned. We take care of all the details. Throughout the process we’ll keep you informed of our progress, even providing photos at each stage. And, of course, if there are any decisions to be made regarding style, we’ll consult with you before proceeding.

Q?Can you assist with purchasing products for our home?
A.

We are always happy to offer suggestions or handle the purchasing for you on items such as tiles, paint, lighting fixtures, kitchen appliances and more. As a licensed builder, we can often obtain products at a discounted price, savings we are happy to pass along to you.

Q?Will you be able to tell me how long the project will take?
A.

We’ll give you a production schedule so you’ll be able to track progress at every stage. We are efficient in our work and meet our deadlines.

Q?Why should I use your company to build my home over any other?
A.

Not all construction companies are equal. It comes down to quality. We do the job right. We pay attention to details. We deliver on all our promises. Finally, we make the building process smooth and hassle-free for our clients.

Q?How do you keep your prices so reasonable?
A.

We have been doing construction for many years and have become extremely efficient. Additionally, we have established long-time relationships with suppliers and subcontractors who give us their best prices. We pass those savings on to you.

Q?Who handles the paperwork to get government approvals and inspections?
A.

We do. We’re experts at navigating the building process in Portugal from buying land to gaining planning permission from the local council, to building and inspections. We’ll take care of all official paperwork, ensuring you won’t encounter delays or problems down the road.
